Mohammed Shami ruled out of India's T20I series against Australia after he tested positive for COVID-19. Umesh Yadav will replace Mohammed Shami . India Vs Australia T20I series will start from 20th September in Mohali.
Umesh Yadav's return to India T20 side after 2 years :
Umesh Yadav's selection in the T20I series against Australia ahead of Mohammad Siraj, Avesh Khan and Prasidh Krishna has become a topic of debate between cricket fans. Rohit Sharma explained the real reason behind Umesh Yadav's selection in team India, during a press conference in Mohali on Sunday.
"Few options were there, but few of them were injured like Prasidh Krishna. Mohammed Siraj is playing county cricket, we didn't want him to fly all the way, just for a game or two, That won't be fair."
On Avesh Khan,
"Avesh was quite sick in the Asia Cup and he needed some time to recover. From a fitness point of view, he needed some time to rebuild his fitness". Rohit added.
Rohit on Umesh Yadav ,
"He (Umesh Yadav) bowled really well in the IPL, he swings the ball fast. That was the thought, pretty simple actually. It was t not much discussion for us keeping in mind".
"Guys like Umesh and Shami, who have been bowling for a long time, they don't need to be playing a format to be considered", he added.
"They have proven themselves as a player in whichever format they have played. We understand the quality,it is the new guys on whom it will depend whether they played this format or not. But guys like Umesh and Shami,if they are fit and fine,they will be called back".

The BCCI revealed the new T20I Jersey of the Indian cricket team for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022. The Jersey's colour of the Indian team is light blue with dark blue shades. They will wear the new T20 jersey from the first match against Australia in Mohali.
