Virat Kohli's father Prem Kohli was a lawyer and his mother Saroj Kohli is a housewife. Virat's elder brother Vikas Kohli is married to Chetna Kohli and his elder sister Bhawna Kohli is married to Sanjay Dhingra. In 2017, Virat Kohli married to Anushka Sharma. The couple was blessed with a baby girl on January 11, 2021 named Vamika.

The 33 years old Indian Cricketer played his first match for Delhi U-15 in 2002-03 in Polly Umrigar trophy. After that he was selected in the Delhi U-17 team in 2004 for Vijay Merchant trophy. His consistent performances for Delhi made him debut in List A career for Delhi team in 2006. He has played a total of 296 List A matches and scored 13786 runs with a massive average of 56.50. His phenomenal records at domestic level worked for him and he got a call from India U-19 team.

In July 2006, Kohli was selected in the India U-19 team. His first tour as a U-19 player was for England where he played an outstanding cricket and scored at an average of 105 in three-match ODI series against England U-19 team. His good form continued for India and in September 2006 India U-19 team toured to Pakistan where Virat Kohli averaged 58 in Test series & 41.66 in the ODIs against the arch rivals Pakistan U-19 team. After two year in 2008 Kohli captained India U-19 team in the World Cup in Malaysia where he scored 235 runs in 6 matches. India won the 2008 U-19 Cricket World Cup under Virat's captaincy.

After the 2008 U-19 World Cup win, Virat was included in the Indian Cricket team in 2008 for the Tour of Sri Lanka. Before the start of the series India's openers Sachin Tendulkar and Virendra Sehwag were injured, so Virat got a chance to open the innings for India against Sri Lanka. He was dismissed for just 12 runs in his debut match. Although he played as openers throughout the series and made his first international half- century in the fourth ODI of the series.
Virat Kohli made his Test debut at Kingston on 20 June 2011. In his first test match he made 4 and 15 runs, in both innings he was dismissed by West Indies fast bowler Fidel Edwards. Kohli consistently makes runs for India irrespective of team and grounds all over the world. His aggressive approach in batting was one of the best things about him. Kohli was appointed the vice-captain of Indian team in 2012 Asia Cup in Bangladesh. In the match against arch rivals Pakistan he scored his career best 183 Runs off 148 balls. Virat also became the Test Captain of team India in 2013 in the absence of MS Dhoni in Australia. He captained India in the first test match at Adelaide against Australia.
